Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answers a wide variety of calls and complaints involving automobile accidents, domestic disturbances, misdemeanors or felonies;
  • Serves writs, warrants, summonses and civil papers;
  • Enforces traffic laws and regulations on all roads within Flagler County;
  • Conducts preliminary investigations, obtains witnesses and evidence, makes arrests and transports prisoners to and from confinement areas;
  • Testifies in court relative to arrests made;
  • Maintains the records and equipment assigned to and related to specific areas of assignment;
  • Develops proficiency in specialized areas of assignment;
  • Must attend any in-service training as required for a full time Deputy;
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Selection Criteria:

  • Must be a Florida Certified Law Enforcement Officer 
  • Completion of the Minimum Standards Course required by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission for police officers;
  • Must successfully complete the Flagler County Sheriff's Office Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP);
  • Must complete one (1) year probationary period with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office;

 

  • Reserve Deputy I: Is a volunteer who is appointed by the Sheriff as a Reserve Deputy I who serves on a basis in accordance with applicable law, agency policy and has law enforcement authority only while under the direct supervision of a fully certified FCSO Deputy Sheriff, Reserve Deputy II, or other law enforcement officer as determined by the Sheriff or designee. A Reserve Deputy I must meet all qualifications as required by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards & Training Commission (CJSTC). FCSO GO#407
  • Reserve Deputy II: Is a volunteer who is appointed by the Sheriff as a Reserve Deputy II and who has met the training requirements as prescribed for full-time law enforcement officers by the Florida CJSTC. After completing the FCSO Field Training and Evaluation Program, Reserve Deputy Ils are not required to work under the direct supervision or control of a fulltime Deputy Sheriff. Reserve Deputy II must meet all qualifications as required by the Florida CJSTC.
