Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine inspections of the facility to identify cleanliness, maintenance, and safety concerns;
  • Cleans interior walls, doors, windowsills, window frames, stairwells, conference rooms, offices, and other common areas to maintain a professional appearance;
  • Removes scuff marks, dirt, cobwebs, insects, and other debris from interior and accessible exterior surfaces using approved cleaning methods;
  • Sweeps, vacuums, wet mops, and spot cleans floors throughout the facility, including stairways, conference rooms, the Physical Agility Room, the Evidence Garage, and other assigned areas;
  • Maintains building entrances, exits, sidewalks, walkways, and exterior grounds by removing debris, sweeping thresholds, clearing mulch washouts, and addressing weeds as needed;
  • Empties trash receptacles throughout the facility and exterior areas, including the Sally Port, Evidence Garage, outdoor air/vacuum station, dumpster enclosure, and support buildings;
  • Maintains the cleanliness of dumpster enclosures, fence lines, parking areas, and other exterior spaces by removing litter and debris;
  • Inspects mechanical and electrical rooms to verify proper operation of building systems, including air conditioning equipment, and report maintenance issues requiring repair;
  • Cleans and maintains restroom fixtures and accessories, including soap dispensers, exhaust fan grills, faucets, and automatic flush valves;
  • Replaces batteries in sensor-operated fixtures as needed;
  • Cleans exterior light fixtures and remove accumulated insects and cobwebs from building surfaces and door frames;
  • Performs preventive maintenance tasks such as lubricating roll-up door tracks, touching up painted surfaces, and cleaning tile base and other building finishes;
  • Cleans and maintains physical agility equipment, ceiling fans, and equipment storage buildings;
  • Assists with meeting and conference room setup by arranging tables and chairs according to scheduled events and restoring rooms afterward as needed;
  • Coordinates with department personnel to gain access to secured areas and identify maintenance needs within administrative and executive office spaces;
  • Assists with department operations, including transporting secure shredding bins for scheduled document destruction services;
  • Monitors facility conditions and promptly report maintenance deficiencies, equipment malfunctions, or repair needs requiring specialized service;
  • Maintains equipment and supplies necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively;
  • Performs other facility maintenance, custodial, and minor repair duties as assigned.

Minimum Selection Criteria:

  • Graduation from High School or possession of a High School Equivalency Diploma recognized by the State of Florida AND
  • Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, custodial services, or a related field preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building systems is preferred.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of general building maintenance and custodial practices.
  • Ability to recognize maintenance issues and determine when repairs or outside service are required.
  • Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment, power blowers, hand tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate work with facility staff.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices and proper use of cleaning products and maintenance materials.
